Changing the one thing you can!

If we want to change the way things are then we need to show those in charge, that is what people want.

It was great to see a few years back a peoples vote petition of 6 million people saying they want another vote, but that seems paltry to the 17 million people who voted for Brexit, thus in a democracy even though I want to shout and disagree its tough. Even if the politicians sold us lie,  same as  austerity  lockdown, cost of living,  we bought it. Where so wrapped up on our own thoughts that we will willingly follow the next star, politician, or even label that is marketed to us. As long as it benefits me!

How have we got here?  Is it really austerity and government led or cost of living crisis or do we all need to take some responsibility for the state and treatment of the most venerable. After 10 years of cuts, which we've voted for, Brexit that we again have voted for, cost of living based on choices that we've made, we can't " just "blame the Government. We put them there!

It all feels  like this country has taken a huge step back in time, the rich once again rule, the poor once again downtrodden and used at every opportunity to make more money for the rich. Is there a way we can turn things around again?

The Magna Carter  much applauded as a document for people's rights. If looked at carefully and historically understood, was a way for rich people in the country to take power from the state (then the crown), and put it in thier hands. Has much changed? Or have we not moved forward? Or reverted back? Can we even make the change?

I believe so but it won't be done via politics, it' needs to be done through new thinking, a fresh approach, perhaps where money is secondary to a greater good. I'm not saying having money is wrong, but really how much is enough?

Not possible you may say, but there are already a number of examples throughout the world, where towns or villages work together, for the greater good of the whole than the individual.

The question people will ask is why should I work and others don't, why should I put in the effort. This is where the shift in thinking comes from, everyone has to work for the betterment of everyone else and not self.

I get the argument and am a strong believer in give a man a fish and he'll feed himself. Yet teach a man to fish and he will feed his whole family. This arguments makes sense until you see it as the brilliant disabled comedian  Rosie Jones puts it. If your living in the desert, on a wheelchair, without arms then just give him the fish. Fishing isn't possible.

We all have something to contribute. Rather than having a pay increase or earning substantial more money than others why not do it, because you can, you have the capabilities to manage or run the company or be the medical consultant. In reality apart from the knowledge and skills what’s the difference between a street cleaner and a doctor? Both are working towards helping the community. Just because one is born or has the capabilities to learn or excel does that mean they should earn more?

Is it not more beneficial for all to want to improve or do better for just wanting to be the best person you can? Rather than wanting it for a reward, greater gratification from others or self-esteem. Why not work towards bettering the one thing you can actually control, and that's yourself. Through this indvdaul change, I believe we can make a greater change to society. Instead of expending energy blaming one another, let's just accept we are human and work on our own faults. Try to understand why, we do what we do, what are you really trying to achieve? Remember all the real great people in the world, are they remembered for what they had, or what they did?
